Organizing Scans in Paperlogix

Paperlogix makes it easy to organize scans using nested folders or tag. The Documents tab presents your scanned documents as a traditional hierarchy of documents and folders. The Navigate tab lets you quickly jump to recent documents, tagged documents, or tagged folders.

Folders

You can easily use folders to organize your documents. Folders can be nested within one another, and can also be tagged.

Tip. Tagging a folder is a great way to provide quick access to deeply nested folders.

Creating New Folders

To create a new folder tap Edit in the upper-right, then tap the New Folder button. You can also create a folder by dragging a document and dropping it onto another document. For more details see Drag and Drop.

Adding Items to Folders

Items can be moved into a folder using drag and drop, or with the Move action.

  • Drag and Drop: Moving items into a folder with drag and drop is simple. Just tap and hold the item(s) to lift them, then drop them into the target folder. While the items are being dragged you can navigate throughout the app to locate the target folder.

  • Move Action: Items can also be moved to a folder by tapping the Edit button, selecting the desired items, then by invoking the Move to Folder action at the bottom. Invoking this action will prompt you to choose the desired target folder.

Tags

Tags are keywords or phrases that you can assign to any document or folder. Using tags is a convenient way to categorize items so that you can quickly find them again.

You can attach any number of tags to an item. This makes it easy to organize documents that share multiple categories.

From the Tags tab, tap any of your tags to view all of the items that contain the tag.

Adding Tags to a Document or Folder

Tags can be added to documents in a variety of ways:

  • When editing a collection of documents or viewing an individual document, you’ll find and Tag at the bottom of the view.
  • Tap the name of a document or folder to open the document or folder details view.

Drag and Drop

Paperlogix offers support for powerful iOS and iPadOS Drag and Drop. You can use Drag and Drop to move items within Paperlogix, add tags to an item, as well as to copy items between apps on iPad.

Dragging Items

To begin dragging a document or folder, tap and hold the item until it lifts from the view. While dragging items, additional items can be added to the collection by tapping them with another hand or finger.

You can also drag multiple items by first tapping Edit and selecting a set of items. When multiple items are selected, lifting any of the selected items will lift all of the selected items.

Moving to a Destination

While dragging items you can navigate to other areas within Paperlogix by tapping with another hand or finger. On iPad, you can also navigate to another app which accepts PDF documents.

Dropping an Item Within Paperlogix

Items can be dropped into any of several locations within Paperlogix:

  • Dropping into a folder: Dropping into a folder will move the dragged items from their current folder to the destination folder. You can drop into the content area of a displayed folder, or drop directly into a folder item.

  • Dropping into a document: Dropping into a document will create a new folder containing the dragged items and the destination document. This is very similar to the way folders are created in the iOS Springboard.

  • Dropping into a tag view: Dropping into a tag view will add the destination tag to the items being dragged.

Dropping a Document Into Another App on iPad

On iPad, dragged items can be dropped into any app that accepts PDF documents.

Dragging Images from Another App

Images can be dragged from other apps into Paperlogix. When dropped, Paperlogix will create a new document for each dropped image. Images can be dropped into any folder or tag view. If dropped into a tag view, the document will be added to the root document folder and will be tagged appropriately.
